Hunter and Lisa Spencer are continuing the family tradition of helping our state parks by generously supporting the Foundation. Their love of the state parks comes naturally. Hunter's late parents, Margaret and Bill, were park enthusiasts and longtime Foundation patrons.
Margaret Donnor Spencer was an especially dedicated champion of the Foundation. Known for her warmth and love of life, Margaret served on the Foundation's Advisory Council and was also elected to the Board of Trustees in 1998. Before her death she wanted to continue her support by establishing a Charitable Remainder Unitrust - a donation option which provides a variable annual payment to the receiving charity.
Hunter and Lisa both grew up exploring the parks and nature, and now they are introducing their boys Parker and Shane to the outdoors and the parks. The family camps and hikes every summer. We want the boys to enjoy the outdoors and to see what the Foundation is doing to preserve and protect the state parks, says Hunter and Lisa. Every trip we take is unique and exciting.
This summer they camped at Samuel P. Taylor and at Humboldt state parks where they explored the woods, biked and visited the beaches and tidal pools. Thus, the third generation of Spencers carry forward the dedication and interest in state parks.
Margaret Spencer's generous Charitable Remainder Unitrust is helping the Foundation ensure that state parks provide recreation, adventure, renewal and inspiration for all Californians and for future generations.
